Kristen joined the Board of Directors of Glassroots, a New Orleans-based nonprofit working to expand access to recycling through educational opportunities and to partner directly with communities to ensure its services benefit the community and the environment. Glassroots works hand-in-hand with Glass Half Full, which provides glass recycling to New Orleans and converts the glass into sand for disaster relief sandbags, coastal restoration, eco-construction, art, and new glass products. Before Glass Half Full was created in 2020, there were no glass recycling facilities in New Orleans. Glassroots and Glass Half Full have diverted millions of pounds of glass from landfills.
